This Avalokiteshvara thangka painting is hand-painted on high-quality cotton canvas by a Master artist. The size of this thangka is 47 x 35 cm.
The Bodhisattva of Compassion is Avalokiteshvara. He is seen as the Guardian of Tibet. The most famous mantra of Avalokiteshvara is Om Mane Padme Hum.
Chenrezig is his name in Tibetan and he made a strong vow a long time ago not to return to Nirvana until he liberated all human creatures and freed them from pain.
Avalokiteshvara sits in full lotus pose in this four-armed version (with his legs completely crossed) and his four arms reflect a Bodhisattva’s four immense qualities: Compassion, Love, Joy & Peacefulness.
Avalokiteshvara teaches us that true awakening is not a retreat or release from our personal problems (as we prefer to do so), but that, with all the love and compassion that is in our hearts, it is simply reaching out and welcoming the living beings in this entire universe.
