Description

This Guru Rinpoche Thangka is hand-painted on high-quality cotton canvas by a Master artist. The size of this thangka is 50 x 36 cm.

Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is considered a manifestation of Buddha Amitabha.

He was a Tantric Buddhist master born in India, and in the eighth century, he played a fundamental role in introducing Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet. The founder of the Nyingma school, the oldest of the four main traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, is also Padmasambhava.

Guru Rinpoche is portrayed in this thangka painting in his more conventional depiction, seated in a royal pose holding a vajra in his right hand while a skull-cup containing a vase filled with the nectar of immortality and knowledge is held in his left hand.

Padmasambhava’s five major consorts are considered Vajrayogini emanations and considered not ordinary women but Dakini. Padmasambhava himself also has eight different manifestations, both in wrathful and peaceful forms, which reflect different facets of his being.
