Buddha means “the one awakened” or “the one enlightened.” Compared to the impulsivity found in the resignation movement, Gautama taught the Middle Way. The primary figure in Buddhism is Shakyamuni Buddha, and Buddhists claim that accounts of his life, discourses, and monastic rules were summarized after his death and memorized by his followers.
